چکیده

The psychosocial impact of the cosmetic defect on Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis patients is an important factor that must be considered when developing treatment plans and monitoring outcomes. There is new emphasis on finding ways to quantify reliably paraspinous back surface volumetric asymmetry, with the objective of providing a scoring that can give an impression of the severity of the deformity at each clinical presentation. The aim of this study was to propose and test three numerical descriptions of volumetric asymmetry and to gain an insight into the effects of posture, breathing and sway on the reliability of the measures. Quantification and modelling of the dosimetric impact of the treatment couch in volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT)

Background: As the volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) becoming a main role of treatment ways, the effect of couch top becomes more significant. It is imperative to re-evaluate the couches that previously may have been considered of no importance during early treatment techniques. The impact of couch top on radiation delivery was explored and the couch model was tested with the aim of reduc...

Measurement of long-term denudation rates in carbonate landscapes using in situ-produced 36Cl cosmogenic nuclide

ecent progresses have been made in the quantification of denudation of eroding landscapes and its links with topography. Despite these advances, data is still sparse in carbonate terrain, which covers a significant part of the Earth’s surface. We can now measure in situ-produced cosmogenic nuclides concentrations in various near-surface materials, allowing accurate quantification of the rates o...

Impact of Surface Waves on SWOT's Projected Ocean Accuracy

The Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) mission being considered by NASA has, as one of its main objectives, to measure ocean topography with centimeter scale accuracy over kilometer scale spatial resolution. This paper investigates the impact of ocean waves on SWOT’s projected performance. Several effects will be examined: volumetric decorrelation, aliasing of ocean waves, backscattering...

Dynamic curvature topography for evaluating the anterior corneal surface change with Corvis ST

BACKGROUND The measurement of dynamic parameters, such as the length of applanation and the amplitude of deformation, is significant for evaluating corneal properties. Most of the corneal properties (related to shape) including the anterior corneal curvature and the thickness of cornea can be easily measured using some existing techniques. However, they only provide the static or pseudo-dynamic...

Study of Volumetric Flow Rate of a Micropump Using a Non-classical Elasticity Theory

The purpose of this research is to study the mechanical behavior of a micropump with clamped circular diaphragm which is the main component of drug delivery systems. In this paper, the non-linear governing equations of the circular microplate using Kirchhoff thin plate theory was been extracted based on the modified couple stress (MCST) and classical (CT) theories. Then, the non-linear equation...
